The first edition of this famous classic was released in the year 1918, and the second edition, with its rich material, was released in the year 1953. Kulacarya Satyananda initially wrote the book in Sanskrit, and it was translated into English with an introduction by jnanendralal Mazumdar. Sir John Woodroffe, the author of tantric classics like Serpent Power, Sakti and Sakta, among others, also wrote the forward to the book.
