Zindagi is a family novel written on the social psyche. Its central character is Gopishah. He is the head of a large family. Most of the family members are materialistic. As a result, their lives are either spent in extreme happiness or extreme sadness. Gopishah says that real life is something above happiness and sadness and such a life can be lived only when it is planned. Also, the feeling of alleviating the suffering of the suffering should be selfless. This essence of life is the theme of the novel. There is such a unique coordination of character and events in the novel that both have become prominent and in the dominance of both, a unique life essence is being transmitted.
