Mother is always right, but there are times when foolishness triumphs. This anthology of absurdity tears the fabric of traditional nursery rhymes and cleverly sews them back together (or not quite together) in every inventive way ? all in the spirit of Dadaism's rejection of reason and rational thought. It also collaborates with Blanche Fisher Wright's The Real Mother Goose. Favorite nursery rhymes like "Humpty Dumpty," "Hickory Dickory Dock," "Jack Be Nimble," and "Mother Hubbard" all succumb to cunning subversion under the direction of the master of fracture. They are transformed into comic strips, rambling book reports, anagrams, and zany mash-ups by renowned illustrator Julia Rothman and author Jon Scieszka. The 36 old-new rhymes are humorously reconfigured and welcome more nonsense, letting children in on the joke and encouraging them to enjoy reimagining.
