Being the most popular student in sixth grade has benefits for Hart Evans. He is idolised by the students, and all the teachers, with the exception of Mr. Meinert, the chorus director, let him get away with everything. The choir director just learned he was going to lose his job due to budget cuts, so when Hart's errant rubber band hits Mr. Meinert in the neck during practise, it's the last straw. He then tells the pupils that they can organise the major holiday concert themselves. Or not. All depends on them. Who is chosen to lead the organisation? the well-liked Hart Evans. Hart quickly learns that popularity and leadership are very different, and he also learns something unexpected.
