Shakuntala is a world famous play. Originally it is written in Sanskrit, but it has been translated into all the major languages of the world. It is a very interesting story. The love story of King Dushyant and Shakuntala. King Dushyant marries his beloved Shakuntala through Gandharva marriage, but later he forgets his own beloved due to the curse of a sage. His beloved Shakuntala becomes pregnant and being a fallen woman, she goes to the forest, where she gives birth to a child, who is named Bharat. Later the king remembers his beloved and adopts Shakuntala and her son. Shakuntala's son Bharat becomes the emperor of the world and this country is named Bharatvarsh after him.
