The great developments have taken place in the theory and practice of analytical chemistry. In preparing this new edition we were aware of the necessity to revise and expand the text appropriately. There is no need to mention the many changes introduced by the editors into this text. It should however be pointed out that substantial revisions have been made in all the chapters of the book. Modern conceptions of acids and bases of the mechanism of certain types of reactions etc. are presented.
