Microeconomics I and Statistics is specially designed to serve as an undergraduate textbook for first semester B Com students of University of Calcutta. The book seeks to provide a comprehensive coverage of the various topics relating to microeconomics, as well as a thorough grounding of statistics fundamentals. The book is divided into two sections. The first section, Microeconomics I provides a detailed coverage of the basics of demand, theories of consumer behaviour, production, and cost, and the market system characterized by perfect competition. The second section, Statistics, provides an overview of the basic statistical concepts followed by a requisite coverage of topics such as measures of central tendency, measures of dispersion, concepts of moments, skewness and kurtosis, and interpolation. Written in simple language, the book provides clear figures and graphs, numerous examples, solved university questions, and exhaustive chapter-end exercises
