Kashmir was an independent country. Today, Kashmir is occupied by India and Pakistan in two parts. As Indians, we think that Pakistan has illegally occupied a part of Kashmir. Kashmir is an integral part of India. Pakistan thinks that India has forcibly snatched a part of Kashmir, which is theirs. The sons and daughters of Kashmir call us Indians; they call us Pakistanis. They identify themselves as Kashmiris. Kashmiris have never considered India and Pakistan as anything but occupiers.
