Hitopadesh are didactic stories influenced by the Indian people's psyche and environment. The stories of Hitopadesh are very simple and easy to understand. Stories based on various animals and birds are its specialty. The author has created a story-craft through these animals and birds which ends with something instructive. Animals have been shown talking about ethics. All the stories seem to be connected to each other. Hitopadesh is written on the same pattern as Panchtantra.
